Is one day in Verona enough?
Many of you are asking if spending one day in Verona is possible? It is not just possible, but you will have enough time to soak up the city’s utterly charming atmosphere. So here is perfect 1 day itinerary Verona. Visit arena Verona, Piazza Bra and other must see attractions.
Verona is widely known as the city of love. You will be impressed about the scenes in the city. Charming buildings, vintage looks, colorful piazzas and beautiful bridges. The city is peaceful and people there are very nice.
In one day, you will be able to experience Verona’s highlights. The ancient Arena in Piazza Bra, Juliet’s house and sipping espresso in Piazza delle Erbe.
Here’s a one-day itinerary for Verona, Italy, that balances the city’s historic landmarks, culture, and culinary delights. I tried to make this itinerary to help you maximize your day in Verona and you wont feel in rush. And you will not miss our any of the must-see sights.
How to move around?
Verona is a small city and it is fully walk-able. If you come by car, you can park your car on one of the parking spots that are near city center.
The sights I choose for this one day in Verona are close to each other and you can walk. Most of the attractions are free to visit or are beautiful to see from outside.
Piazza Bra and Arena di Verona
Start your day at Piazza Bra, the heart of Verona. This bustling square is home to the Arena di Verona, a Roman amphitheater dating back to 30 AD. Visit arena Verona, take a guided tour of the arena to appreciate its history and imagine the ancient gladiator fights and modern opera performances held here.
But if not, you can just sit outside at Piazza and take some coffee. Arena is such a gem to see.

Juliet’s House (Casa di Giulietta)
A short walk from the arena Verona brings you to Juliet’s House, the legendary setting of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet.” While the balcony is fictional, the house has become an iconic spot for visitors. Admire the architecture, the statue of Juliet, and the courtyard filled with love notes.
Here you will find a lot of people taking pictures with Juliet. The legend says that you should rub her right breast for good luck in love. And even if this balcony does not have any relation to real Romeo and Juliet, you can squeeze it in one day. Verona is not the same without this place.

Piazza delle Erbe
Continue your stroll to Piazza delle Erbe, Verona’s oldest market square. It’s surrounded by historic buildings and a vibrant daily market. Grab a cappuccino at one of the cafés and soak in the medieval atmosphere.

Piazza delle Erbe is one of my favorite stops in Verona. It is so vibrant and colorful. Do not miss those landmarks:
- Madonna fontana is at the center. Fountain has Roman statue in the middle, that was repurposed in 14th century
- Palazzo Maffei Casa Museo with its Baroque architecture and statues of Greek gods lining the rooftop. Inside is a private art collection.
- Colonna di San Marco – A winged lion atop a marble column stands in front of the palazzo meant to remind us of Verona’s time under Venetian rule.
Be sure to check out the Torre dei Lamberti for sweeping views of the city. If time permits, you can climb it later in the day and see the beautiful sunsets from it.

Piazza dei Signori and Scaliger Tombs
Just around the corner is Piazza dei Signori, a quieter square known for its elegant statues, including that of Dante. Nearby, you’ll find the Scaliger Tombs, beautifully ornate Gothic monuments dedicated to the powerful Scaliger family.
Lunch in Verona
Even if this is just one day in Verona, you have a lot of options for meals. Head to a traditional trattoria for an authentic Veronese meal. Try Risotto all’Amarone which is made with the local Amarone wine or bigoli, a thick, homemade pasta. A great spot is Osteria al Duca, which offers classic dishes in a charming setting.
Grab some gelato – Italian ice cream! I took mine at Gelateria Impero at Piazza Domus Nova. And it was delicious.

Castelvecchio and Ponte Scaligero
After lunch, visit Castelvecchio, a 14th-century fortress housing an impressive art museum. The castle’s architecture is stunning, and the Ponte Scaligero, the bridge connected to it, offers picturesque views of the Adige River.
You can take a walk down the river to feel the slow pace of the city.

Get lost
The streets in Verona are beautiful itself. I was just walking around adoring all the buildings and piazzas. If you like shops, go down Via Guiseppe Mazzini. And do not worry about the time. One day in Verona is enough to enjoy the city at its fullest.

Giardino Giusti
Escape the crowds by heading to Giardino Giusti, a Renaissance garden with well-manicured hedges, statues, and fountains. Climb to the top for a serene spot offering panoramic views of Verona.
Torre dei Lamberti
If you didn’t have time earlier, now is the perfect moment to visit Torre dei Lamberti. The climb (or elevator ride) up offers stunning 360-degree views of the city, particularly magical at sunset.

Dinner and Aperitivo for perfect end of one day in Verona
End your day at Piazza Bra*or along the Adige River for a relaxed aperitivo and dinner. Enjoy a glass of Valpolicella wine, and pair it with local specialties like gnocchi di malga or bollito misto. For a cozy dinner, try Trattoria Fluviale Vecio Mulin.

Optional Evening Experience- visit arena Verona
If you’re visiting during the summer and you love opera, try to catch an evening performance at the Arena di Verona, one of the most famous open-air opera venues in the world. I still need to go back to visit arena Verona and experience this.

This 1 day itinerary Verona will give you a perfect balance of Verona’s rich history, culture, and relaxed charm in one day!
