Is the city worth visiting?
Well, off course it is! Dublin is worth visiting for its unique mix of history, culture, and modern energy. You will be able to explore iconic landmarks like the Guinness Storehouse, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and the Book of Kells at Trinity College. The city is also famous for its lively pub scene, traditional Irish music, and festivals. You will find music everywhere. On the streets, you will hear it from the pubs and churches. Plus, Dublin’s friendly locals, vibrant neighborhoods, and proximity to stunning natural landscapes like the Cliffs of Moher make it an unforgettable destination.
When is the best time to visit Dublin?
Well, in Dublin you are never sure if the weather will be sunny or it will be rainy. Take your umbrella no matter when you will plan your visit. I would say, that you can visit Dublin in spring and summer. But you will have a good time no matter when you go.
Do you question if 3 days are enough to visit Dublin?
Sure, it is enough. If you would like to visit all the attractions and the surrounding areas, maybe 4 days will be better. But for Dublin itself, 3 days are good. The perfect 3 day itinerary for Dublin includes best sightseeing for first time visitors. But be careful, buy tickets for some sightseeings in advance. I would recommend buying tickets for Guinness Storehouse and Kilmainham Gaol even a month before visiting.
How to get around?
Dublin in completely walk able city. If you want, you can take bus or tram. The city has simple way of navigating public transport and locals will be willing to help you. You can buy ticket on any station.
So, let’s take a walk through one of my favorite city in Europe for the perfect 3 day itinerary for Dublin.
Day 1 – feel the city
Walk down the Liffey river and feel the vibe
First day, I recommend taking a walk down the Liffey river. Start your day at O’Connell bridge, build in 18th century. The bridge is almost as wide as it is long. From there, you will see the whole river. It is connecting O’Connell street and South side of the city. Walking on the Northern side of the river, facing the sea, you will pass the Custom house. And a few steps further you will find The World Poverty Stone. It is a symbolic monument located near the Famine Memorial. It commemorates the struggle against global poverty and serves as a reminder of the world’s ongoing inequality. The stone urges reflection and action, calling for solidarity with those living in poverty worldwide.
You have probably already noticed the Samuel Beckett Bridge. It is a striking modern landmark in Dublin, designed by renowned architect Santiago Calatrava. Shaped like a harp, Ireland’s national symbol, the bridge spans the River Liffey, connecting the city’s north and south sides. Its sleek, elegant design represents Dublin’s blend of contemporary architecture and cultural heritage.

Stephen Green shopping Centre and Park
Even though I do not like shopping, I needed to see Stephen Green shopping Centre. It is an amazing place, with big golden watches, glass dome and beautiful little shops. This is the whole different shopping experience.
Just across the Centre, there is St. Stephen Green. Park with a lot of animals like ducks and squirrels. It is a peaceful place for a walk or a few minutes sit on a bench.
The little museum of Dublin – a must for the perfect 3 day itinerary for Dublin
This museum is such a gem. First of all, it is not some big, old museum with classic big rooms and antiques. When you enter the building, you can feel the love towards Ireland that this place holds. The staff is very passionate about their work and museum tour is the mixture of interesting facts, laughter and history. You will find places full with historical object and things that were personal belongings, given to the museum.
St. Patrick Cathedral
I wanted to visit this cathedral since I was a teenager. It is breathtakingly beautiful! Its glass windows and its Gothic architecture is out of this space.
St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin is Ireland’s largest cathedral, dating back to 1191. With your ticket you can explore its beautiful interior, gardens, and historical exhibitions.
Day 2 – History and streets
On the first day, you could get the feeling that city is amazing and not that big. Lets continue with the perfect 3 day itinerary for Dublin. I recommend that for a day, you visit Dublin Castle, Guinness Storehouse and Temple Bar. Meanwhile you can enjoy the beautiful streets of the city.
Dublin castle
Dublin Castle is a historic landmark in the heart of the city, serving as a symbol of British rule in Ireland for centuries. Originally built in the early 13th century, it has been transformed over time into a stunning mix of medieval and Georgian architecture. Today, it hosts government functions and offers tours of its beautiful state rooms, chapel, and gardens. In a castle you will be able to feel the history.
Guinness Storehouse
I would say this is one of the most visited places in Dublin. It really is a great experience, because it is so well done by the owners. It is mixture of history, factory and immersive experience. In a Storehouse you will be able to see, how a pint of Guinness is made, from scratch. And it is completed with a pint on the top floor with the perfect view. You can see the whole city from there. With the ticket you will get one free pint of Guinness or juice for those under 18.
I recommend buying ticket at least a month before traveling, because this experience is on high demand.
Streets of Dublin
Walking around is and experience itself. Streets are beautiful. You will find some graffiti, wall of fame, beautiful buildings and nice decorations. I was in street with umbrellas, it is Anne’s Ln. You will find lights on the streets of Temple bar. And there are Guinness barrels in lots of streets in front of the bars. You will hear music, everywhere.
If you love shops and narrow streets, you should go down the O’Connell street. There you will also find guides that will tell you more about Dublin and take you around. My taxi driver told me to look some with yellow umbrella. They are free guides. I did not try this, so let me know if you did. On O’Connell street is always someone singing. Ant those are good singers. So stop and enjoy!
Temple Bar
Temple Bar is Dublin’s cultural quarter, famous for its vibrant nightlife, cobblestone streets, and historic pubs. It’s a hub for traditional Irish music, live performances, and art galleries. Visitors can explore its lively atmosphere, enjoy street performers, or visit cultural spots like the Irish Film Institute and the Temple Bar Gallery. It’s a must-visit area for entertainment and local charm. If we are talking about the perfect 3 day itinerary for Dublin, this place is a must.
Day 3 – books, gallery and statues
Statues
Walking around the city, you will find a lot of statues. One of the best known surely is Molly Malone statue. You will find it next to the beautiful St. Andrew’s church. You can look for statue of Oscar Wilde in a Merrion Square park. Look for some on O’Connell street or stop at the famous The Spire.
National Gallery of Ireland
National Gallery of Ireland is free to visit. I would recommend if you like art or you just need some peaceful time enjoying beautiful paintings. The National Gallery of Ireland in Dublin houses an impressive collection of European and Irish art, spanning centuries. You will be able explore works by artists like Caravaggio, Vermeer, and renowned Irish painters. The gallery offers free admission and hosts exhibitions.
Trinity college and Book of Kells
Trinity College, Dublin’s oldest and most prestigious university, is renowned for its stunning campus and historical significance. One of its main attractions is the Book of Kells, a beautifully illuminated medieval manuscript created by monks around 800 AD. Housed in the Long Room of the Old Library, the Book of Kells features intricate artwork and vibrant colors. The old library is one of the most beautiful libraries in Europe and it is really worth visiting. Especially if you are a book lover as I am. It is full of ancient energy and is just stunning.
This in the perfect 3 day itinerary for Dublin. It is a slow walk to get to know the city. You can go around in your own pace. Jameson distillery is also worth visiting. I will do it next time. And take some time maybe to go out of the city.
